June 23 is National Pecan Sandy Day.
According to Mahalo.com, “Pecan sandies are a type of cookie made from flour, brown sugar, butter, pecans, and sometimes additional ingredients…The origin of pecan sandies is thought to be the sweet treats found in medieval Arab cuisine…The name ‘sandies’ is thought to come from the sand-like color of the finished product.”
Spell-check keeps wanting to call them “pecan dandies,” which also sounds like it would be a good cookie.
Pecan sandies happen to be the favorite cookie of Roger, the alien on American Dad who sounds like Paul Lynde.
