Veteran actress Julie Harris died yesterday, August 24, 2013, at 87.
Harris was a Broadway legend and five-time Tony Award winner, known for roles such as Emily Dickinson in The Belle of Amherst.
To TV audiences, she was Lilimae Clements, the spirited mother of Valene Ewing (Joan Van Ark) on the prime-time drama Knots Landing. Harris played the role from 1980 to 1987.
Below is one of Harris’s most memorable Knots Landing scenes, in which she confronts her son Joshua (Alec Baldwin) as he is about to throw his wife Cathy (Lisa Hartman) off a roof! But Cathy is not the one who ends up dying.
