March 23 is National Melba Toast Day.
According to the website CD Kitchen, “the tiny thin, crispy toasts were first prepared by famed chef Auguste Escoffier for opera singer Dame Nellie Melba, and were named by the emminent hotel magnate Cesar Ritz.”
Wow, that has nothing to do with Melba Moore at all. But did you know that Melba Moore had her own short-lived sitcom called in 1986 called Melba? Yep, there were six whole episodes. I don’t remember it—I guess I was doing something more important in 1986—but the description of it sounds very boring. Melba plays a divorced mother raising her… zzz.
