May 8 is Have a Coke Day.

Perhaps you’ve heard about soda consumption being linked to childhood obesity. But in this commercial from 1961, actress Connie Clausen explains that drinking Coca-Cola keeps her thin.

There’s no “waistline worry” because an individual-size bottle of Coke “has no more calories than half a grapefruit.” And “the cold, crisp taste of Coke is so satisfying, it keeps [her] from eating something else that might really add those pounds.”
