January 24 is National Peanut Butter Day.
In this 1972 commercial, a fey Peter Pan, possibly high on drugs, enters a home uninvited by climbing through the window. He stumbles over his words and giggles. While the mother stands by helplessly, he feeds her kids peanut butter sandwiches. How does she know they’re not poisoned?
After he departs, the boy proclaims, “He’s weird.”
And the girl, more enlightened and accepting than her brother, adds, “But he makes a great peanut butter sandwich.”
Peter Pan is played by Laugh-In regular Alan Sues.
