This month marks the 40th anniversary of the release of Free to Be…, a children’s record created to expel gender and racial stereotypes, which featured songs and stories told or sung by Marlo Thomas (That Girl) and other celebrities.

Two years later it became a TV special. That means those kids in this video who ride off the carousel on cartoon horses are all around 50 now.
